A. About Jenny Craig
The Jenny Craig program has worked for many and has been around for a long time as diet programs go. There are two different ways you can go about starting this program.
You can either do the online version in which everything is managed from the comfort of your own home. You can also do the traditional version in which you join a weight loss center near your location. Both have pros and cons, but both are effective at weight loss.
Despite which program route you take, you will meet or talk with a counselor once a week to help you create a menu plan that suits your taste. There have been many celebrities who have met with success with the Jenny Craig diet such as Valerie Bertinelli, Sara Rue, and Jason Alexander.
The program works by you consulting online or at a center in forming your initial evaluation to create a diet that fits your needs. Then you can either buy those food items from a local grocery store or through their online delivery service. You can tailor this plan based on your budget but keep in mind that you don’t want to create a real cheap diet plan as this will short change your results!
The cost of this program really isn’t all that unreasonable considering the fact that you are spending your money on what you’re eating for your diet. You have to buy groceries anyways so why not make them based on healthy choices which will save your thousands in medical bills in the future.
B. The Cost
Expect to pay this amount per week from your local grocery store:
Weekly Food (average): $80-$120
Membership: Changes every few months (See current price on link below)
C. Pros and Cons
Pros:
1. For those constantly hungry. This diet plan isn’t one of those “starve for weight loss diets” as
there are many meal and snack times placed throughout the day so you never feel deprived
of nutrients.
2. Free online support. 100% free online community and expert support to keep you
accountable and thin (after monthly dues that is).
3. Diabetic friendly. Meals are available so that people who are diabetic can experience the
same great weight loss.
4. Extreme Convenience. This program is designed with the busy customer in mind as this
program requires no planning, counting of calories, or stress if choosing the delivery
method.
5. No Deprivation. No hardcore restrictions leaving you feeling weak and hungry as all meals
contain 60% carbohydrates for energy and reduction in massive cravings.
6. Healthy weight loss rate. No extreme weight loss fad diet here. Weight loss is performed in a
slow and controlled manner which keeps you wanting to stay with this diet rather than feeling
the effects of extreme hunger, cravings, and weakness associated with other diets.
7. Great options. You get to decide on your diet and how you obtain it. You get to choose
whether to do everything online or in person at local support meetings. The choice is yours
to make with Jenny Craig’s Diet Program.
Cons:
1. The Costs. While you probably spend close to $270 a month on food from the grocery store
anyways, this price seems to be a little on the steep side for some. Keep in mind this is 5
meals for 30 days worth of food though.
2. Consultants. Just when you get used to working with a consultant they tend to leave the
company as they have a high turnover rate of employees.
3. Weigh In. If choosing the local support groups method (versus the online) you will be weighed
in front of others. This can be somewhat embarrassing for some but keep in mind you are all
there because of your weight so nobody is singled out.
D. Conclusion
All in all this a great diet for those who want flexible options in their diet program. Convenience is an option for those who don’t want to leave the comfort of their own home or have difficult doing so and shopping for groceries. The Jenny Craig program will deliver everything right to your house.
If you are the kind of person who finds that meeting with people in person will help you stay on track and become more accountable for your eating habits than this option can be made as well through the completely online version of the program.
Either way it seems that many people have benefited from Jenny Craig including celebrities, people with diabetes, and vegetarians.
