A. About
Creatine has become one of the most popular products in the supplement world with athletes and bodybuilder alike. Creatine has many beneficial effects such as increasing muscle mass, strength, and energy.
Micronized creatine is essentially creatine monohydrate gone through a fine grading process that grinds the particles down or “micronizes” them. The particles are much smaller than normal creatine monohydrate particles.
It is said that these particles will be taken up through the blood faster and more efficiently due to the small particle size. It also provides easier mixing ability with liquids and many who complain of creatine monohydrate stomach issues often find relief after trying micronized creatine.
How Creatine Works
You body naturally produces creatine in small amounts and creatine can also be found in small amounts in meats such as steak. It is made in the liver, pancreas, and kidneys and transported to your muscles through the bloodstream.
Once it reaches your muscles, it is converted to “phosphocreatine” which is a metabolite used to generate energy or ATP adenosine triphosphate).
Basically creatine increases the amount of stored energy in your muscles prior to working out. This in turn increased your strength and intensity of your workout.
B. Cost
Average: $35-$45
This is only an average and many can cost more or less than this range.
C.Effects
• Increase strength
• Increase muscle mass
• Increase creatine stores
• Decrease fat levels
• Increase Intensity
D. Pros and Cons
Pros:
Builds Muscle. Although creatine monohydrate doesn’t directly increase muscle mass, it increases your strength which correlates to more muscle.
Increase Energy. You will have more ATP (energy stores) available and will be able to work out longer.
Boost Intensity. Will allow your intensity during work outs to increase due to more energy available.
Mixes Easily. The superior mixing ability of this particular creatine supplement is the best.
Reduced GI Symptoms. If you normally have stomach problems after taking monohydrate, try micronized creatine.
Cons:
Dehydration. Creatine can dehydrate you if you don’t keep adequate hydration levels especially during the initial “loading phase”.
Effectiveness. There is a haziness in the actual effects of micronized creatine and if the reduce particle size really increases the rate of uptake.
Price. A little more expensive than monohydrate but could be worth it if the claims are true.
Creatine Response. Not all people will respond the same to creatine with wide variations in results. The only way to know if it works for you is to try it out.
