A. About
Whey protein isolate is a trimmed down version of whey protein concentrate. The lactose and fat is cut from the concentrate to create whey protein isolate. This is where it derives its name as the protein is “isolated” from the other stuff.
Isolate protein is taken up faster by the body than other forms of protein as is of value to serious athletes/fitness fans. This allows the protein to become available before, during, or after a workout more rapidly and thus start the muscle building process faster.
Due to the higher quality and cost to make isolate protein, it is usually more expensive than concentrate protein. Isolate contains about 95-98% protein while concentrate is about 75-85%.
Although whey protein isolate may cost a few extra dollars, you get what you pay for. Currently whey protein isolate is the highest quality protein type available for use.
B.Cost
Average: $30-$40
This is only an average and many can cost more or less than this range. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for with protein supplements so a higher price will usually mean a better product (usually).

Leaner protein. This is the leanest protein with the lactose and fat taken out to isolate the protein.
Easy to take. Most products mix easily and can be carried around in the form of shakes or protein bars. Isolate mixes especially well.
Cons:
The Price. The cost can be a bit high for proteins but worth the extra money.
GI disturbances. This product can cause gastro intestinal side effects such as extra gas in some individuals especially those who are lactose intolerant.
Fast Uptake. Although this may be an excellent quality most of the time, this also means it won’t last long in your system as caseins slow-release of protein will.
